Productivity and Quality starts with Healthy Soil
Our Agroecologist, Michelle Barry MSc. is clear that the health of the New Zealand wine industry is hugely dependent on the health of our soil and growing landscapes.
You may have noticed that something isn’t quite right – whether that be soil compaction, drop in yield, poor vine performance, drop in soil organic matter, water logging, run-off, increased inputs or simply declines in profitability. We’re here to help you get to the bottom of what’s causing that issue and identify any other factors that should be considered.
There’s no ‘one solution fits all’ when it comes to soil health for your viticulture, horticulture, or even pastoral, system. We recognise that every vineyard and grower is different. Working together to understand the issues you’re faced with and co-designing solutions to build soil health in your vineyard is how we operate.

How we do it
Our soil health expert will personally come and take samples, talk with you and consider other influencing factors. Based on this and the detailed data analyses provided by our statistical team, we will make recommendations that work with your objectives, values and budgets.
Whilst soil fertility is important and in some situations soil additives are the appropriate solution, we always look at the overall health of your soil and the entirety of options available to help you implement the solution, or set of solutions, that are right for your vineyard over the long-term.
If you think you could benefit from a consultation with our soil health expert, and to find out more about our Soil Health Services, please email or call Augusta van Wijk, our Business Development Manager.
